Dr Johann Lochner – Specialist in Oral Medicine and Periodontics BChD (Stell), MFGDP (UK), MFDSRCS (Eng), MCh DOMP (UWC). Born in South Africa, Dr Lochner relocated to the UK after graduating, where he enjoyed all aspects of general dentistry. He had a particular interest in Periodontics, the treatment of problems relating to gums and gum disease. In May 2000 he passed the examination for Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners at the Royal College of Surgeons RCS (UK). This post-graduate rotation through all dental departments of a world-renowned Dental Training Hospital gave him a wonderful insight into the different aspects of dentistry, allowing him to provide a very high standard of dentistry to all his patients. In October 2001 he passed the examination for Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, MFDS (RCS). Dr Lochner returned to South Africa, and was accepted for the MChD in Oral Medicine and Periodontics at the University of Stellenbosch in 2004, He graduated in 2008 from the University of Western Cape (the Faculties of Dentistry of the University of Stellenbosch and UWC merged during the course of my postgraduate studies). After working in his specialist field at Intercare, Durbanville and Hout Bay Dental Studio, Dr Lochner started his own practice in Somerset West in 2009. In recognition of his commitment to the discipline of Oral Medicine and Periodontology, Dr Lochner is a member of the South African Society of Periodontology (SASPIO). In 2014 he was elected President of SASPIO and is currently serving as Treasurer of the society. Dr Lochner is a Fellow of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and the study club director for the Winelands study club of the ITI.
