Dr Sandile Mpungose

Dr Mpungose is a qualified Prosthodontist, Researcher and teacher. He is the Head Clinical Unit (HCU) in the department of Prosthodontics at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU). The majority of Dr Mpungose’s post qualification experience has been in both private prosthodontic practice and Academia. Dr Mpungose has worked in institutions such University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) as a sessional consultant, actively involved in clinical chairside teaching of final year under-graduate dental students in fixed prosthodontics both conventional and digital. He has also been involved in academic seminars and teaching of post-graduate students at Wits from 2014 to 2016. Sandile was also the Acting HOD in the department of Conservative dentistry at the University of the Western Cape (UWC). Dr Mpungose is currently the Undergraduate training departmental anchor for prosthodontic clinical and academic training (Fixed & Removable) in his current position. He is also actively involved in the coordination and training of post graduate students in prosthodontics. He serves on several SMU School of Oral Health (SOHS) committees, these include DENTEX, School Board, Chair of Quality Assurance, Deputy chair of the Postgraduate committee & member of Curriculum Development committee. Member of APSA and Vice president.
