Dr Gilbert completed his dental hygiene training at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in 2011. Upon completion of his degree, he worked at an orthodontic practice in Windhoek, Namibia for four years. Upon his return, he has worked in private practice and well as the dental sales industry for an orthodontics company, and a digital dentistry company. He is currently based in private practice in Newlands Cape Town at Smith and van Lierop advanced restorative dentistry and is a part time lecturer and clinical teacher at UWC in the dental hygiene department in the faculty of dentistry. He is the Chairperson of the Oral Hygienist Association of South Africa, Western Cape Branch and President Elect on a National Level. He is passionate about his profession and enjoys teaching others.
